Hello! I'm Gavin
I am currently an instrumental music education and trumpet performance major at the University of Texas at Tyler. I began playing the trumpet over ten years ago and have performed professionally for seven of them. I have taught privately for four years and plan to graduate in December of 2022 after completing my coursework and student teaching. After graduating from UT Tyler, I plan to pursue a master’s degree in educational administration and teach somewhere in East Texas. I would love to someday teach music at the junior and high school levels while still performing in a professional level orchestra or church at the same time. Mesquite Symphony Orchestra (MSO)
The Mesquite Symphony Orchestra is a civic orchestra created to serve Mesquite and its surrounding areas. Under the baton of Maestro Felix Torres, the Mesquite Symphony performs a nine month music season cycle which contains six major performances. I currently hold the second trumpet position for this organization and am beginning my fourth season with the orchestra.

Arp ISD, Whitehouse ISD, and Lindale ISD
Since 2019, I have worked closely with Arp, Whitehouse, and Lindale ISD's music programs. During my time with each of these schools, I worked with their marching bands, concert bands, and directors. Specifically, I helped prepare students for Region, Area, and State level competitions and worked with students in preparation for UIL Solo & Ensemble. During my time with these schools, bands earned superior ratings overall in UIL Region Marching Competition, advancement and placement in UIL Open Class Area and Military State Marching Competitions, UIL Sweepstakes, and had several students make successful placements in various ATSSB, TMEA, and UIL competitions.
